GENERAL INFORMATION

Welcome to nationnews.com and our classifieds ‘Place Your Ad’ page where customers can typeset, schedule and pay anytime – 24 hours per day – for classified line ads to appear both in print in The Nation and on-line at nationnews.com.

Placing an ad online is a simple 3-step process. To get started;
a) Choose a “Category” from the drop-down menu and then choose a “Classification” from its drop-down menu.
b) Schedule ad start date and run time. See deadlines below.
c) Compose your headline (maximum 18 characters).
d) Compose and Edit your ad.
e) Enter the contact details you wish to appear in the ad.
f) Provide your full contact Information for our files (this does not appear in ad).
g) Upload photos or graphics.
Step 2: Preview and Confirm your ad. The preview is for content purposes only, and does not represent the final appearance of your ad.
Step 3: Submit your Ad and process Credit Card Payment.
Prices are quoted in Barbados dollars (US$1 = Bds$1.98)
Just follow the instructions on the respective pages to complete your order. Once your order has been approved, a credit card transaction receipt will be emailed to you.

Prepayment is required for all ads placed online. We accept VISA and MASTERCARD credit cards.

Only liner (worded) ads can be placed using our 'Place Your Ad' feature. Liner ads can be placed for most classifications and the minimum charge is for 16 words for 3 days.

Publication of ads placed on holidays or when our office is closed will be delayed until one day after we open.

TIPS FOR COMPOSING AD

1. Start your ad with a headline that clearly identifies the item for sale, service you’re offering or job title. This will be set in BOLD 10-point type. Readers who are looking for a particular item will find it more readily if you use an easily recognisable keyword or phrase
2. Be descriptive, and provide information. If someone is interested in purchasing your item or service they want all the information they can get.
3. Avoid abbreviations. They make the ad harder to read, are much less effective, and often do not reduce the cost of your ad.
4. Include prices of items you have for sale. It’s proven you will get quicker, better-qualified response if prices are listed.
5. Include relevant contact details. These will be in bold 7-point type.
6. Interesting ads work better than lists. Make your ad interesting to read. Sell what your item or service does, not what it is. Describe the benefits your customer will receive from your item or service. Be creative and make your ad fun to read
7. Remember that your ad may be online, so place words in the ad that people are likely to search for.

EDITING ADS

Once a classified ad has been placed – either online or by phone – the only way to make a change to the ad is to contact the Fontabelle classifieds department between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, or contact our Sheraton sales office between the hours of 9:00a.m. and 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday or Saturday 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Please note the deadline for editing an ad is the same as the deadline for ad placement. Editing an ad may incur additional charges.

CANCELING AN AD

NO REFUNDS will be made for 'Place Your Ad' online ads that are cancelled after the scheduled publish start date deadline time. Customers can cancel the ad for its removal from the print edition and on-line edition to avoid additional phone calls or emails. The deadline for cancelling an ad is the same as the deadline for ad placement. You may cancel in person, over the phone or via email.

PUBLISHER’S TERMS & CONDITIONS

• All ads placed on line are subject to approval by the publisher prior to publication.
• The Nation reserves the right to edit, reject, reclassify or cancel advertisements without prior notice.
• Please check your ad on the first day of publication. In case of error, notify us immediately by calling or e-mailing our offices. The Nation will be responsible only for the first insertion and then only for the space occupied by the error and does not assume any responsibility for any claim beyond the cost of the ad itself.
• This web site does not accept any ads with "mature" content, personal ads or ads concerning adoption information. We do not publish business opportunity ads that claim specific income or that requires payment for information.
• The advertiser agrees to indemnify and hold the Publisher harmless from all costs, expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees), liabilities and damages arising in any way from publication of any advertisement placed.
